Five Stars has added yet another successful hiring event to our impressive list of achievements!
Following the triumph of THE Hotel Hiring Event in October, the Five Stars program hosted its second hiring event on March 5th, from 10 am to 1 pm at the NCWorks Career Center at Tillery Place. Seven of our hotel partners were at the event, representing over 35 hotels in Wake County. They were not just present; they were ready to hire, offering abundant opportunities for job seekers in attendance.
Despite adverse weather conditions and simultaneous primary elections, a resilient group of 26 attendees showed up, determined to kickstart their careers in the Hotel Industry.
Among these hopeful job seekers was Jeremy Martin, who learned about the event through his case manager at the South Wilmington Street Center. Despite facing past incarceration, Martin is taking proactive steps to overcome barriers and dive into the promising world of the hotel industry, with a particular interest in baking.
"Baking is a career that I would love to do. It has always been a passion of mine, I've always dreamed of actually starting my own bakery one day.” Said Martin.
Despite his ongoing job search, Martin has been gaining valuable experience by volunteering frequently as a server/busboy at A Place at the Table, a Raleigh non-profit. This organization allows food-insecure individuals to volunteer at their restaurant, not only to gain valuable experience but also to enjoy a meal.
